During Norman Rockwell’s lifetime he moved hearts and minds through his widely disseminated published illustrations, offering everyday people an opportunity to participate in the national conversations in a way few artists of his time could. When Rockwell moved to Stockbridge, Massachusetts, in 1953, he was at the pinnacle of his career. The exhibition “Imprinted: Illustrating Race” is on display at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts through October 30, 2022. Over 300 artworks and objects widely circulated illustrated imagery examine the role of published images in shaping attitudes toward race and culture. The exhibition explores stereotypical racial representations and moves forward in time to celebrate the accomplishments of contemporary artists and publishers whose work emphasizes diversity and inclusivity.

Jeanne Steig
Norman Rockwell Museum is saddened to share news from the Steig family, that Jeanne Steig has died, peacefully, in her sleep, during the early morning hours of July 26, 2022, at the age of 92. Author, artist, and donor, Jeanne Steig was a dear friend to the Museum; and leaves a legacy of art to be enjoyed by future generations thanks to her incredible contribution of a collection of over 6,000 original artworks works by her husband, the legendary illustrator, author, and cartoonist William Steig.

New Special Exhibition “Norman Rockwell: Drawings” Opens this Fall
STOCKBRIDGE, MA—Norman Rockwell Museum (NRM) announces the opening of a newly curated exhibition featuring rarely-seen Norman Rockwell drawings and preliminary studies from his six-decade career on view September 10, 2022, through January 7, 2023. The exhibition coincides with the release of Norman Rockwell: Drawings, 1911-1976, a new book by Abbeville Press written by Museum curators Stephanie Haboush Plunkett and Jesse Kowalski, available in early October.
