Creative Cartooning with Illustrator Scott Lincoln

Develop your own story lines by learning the techniques of character design, storyboarding, and sequential imagemaking by using words and pictures to create a visual narrative. Dynamic cartoonist and animator Scott Lincoln is the creator of Ralf the Destroyer, a long-running cartoon strip, and has taught aspiring artists at the Guy Gilchrist Cartoon Academy.

For children/teens ages 10 and up. $175, $150 members. Extended day from 3pm to 5pm, $50 per week. Materials provided. Please bring lunch, we'll provide beverages and snacks.


Drawing and Painting the Figure
with Painter/Illustrator Dan Howe

Monday through Friday, July 20 through 24,
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Painter/illustrator Dan Howe will lead a drawing and painting workshop at Norman Rockwell Museum from Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 24, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Providing the atmosphere of an old-fashioned art school, the workshop will explore classical approaches to drawing and painting the human figure. Howe will emphasize line and tone drawing approaches, color theory, and palette management, while teaching students of all levels of ability how to enhance their skills, while working with a live model. Mornings will be devoted to drawing from the model, followed by painting in the afternoon. Charcoal and oil paints are recommended, with a complete materials list available upon request. The Figure in the Environment:
A Painting Workshop with Illustrator William Low

Award-winning illustrator/educator William Low will present an exploration of the figure within the environment during a weeklong painting workshop to be held at Norman Rockwell Museum from Monday, July 27 through Friday, July 31, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students will work from models and photographic reference to create a final oil or acrylic painting.
