Norman Rockwell Museum Receives Education
Grant from George Lucas Family Foundation

This past week Norman Rockwell Museum announced the receipt of a two-year, $500,000 grant from the George Lucas Family Foundation to expand and re-imagine its educational programming. One of the greatest storytellers of our time, Mr. Lucas is also an avid collector of original Norman Rockwell art.

Rockwell and Hopper:
Illustrating Our World

Saturday, August 16, 1 to 4 p.m.

Discover the stories that art can tell! Explore the art of Norman Rockwell and Edward Hopper during this activity-filled day. Enjoy storytelling, art-making, and a special signing of Edward Hopper Paints His World with author Robert Burleigh and illustrator Wendell Minor. Chief Curator Stephanie Plunkett will also join us for a 3 p.m. talk that examines the field of illustration in the early 20th century. Free with Museum admission.

Summer Art Workshops

Summer Sketch Club
Tuesdays, August 19 and 26;
10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
For ages 7 and up


Enjoy this lively on-location drawing and painting class that encourages self-expression and experimentation. Bring a sketchbook or drawing pad; other art supplies are provided. Class is outdoors, weather permitting; bring bottled water, insect repellent, hats, and sunscreen. $6, $4 members.

Creating Together:
A Parent-Child Experience

Wednesdays, August 20 and27;
10 to 11:30 a.m.
For children ages 4 and up and their parents/caregivers


Children and their parents/caregivers are invited to explore the galleries together during this interactive art experience. A lively look at the works on view will inspire personal artworks created with a variety of materials and techniques. $6, $4 members.
