The Museum is thrilled to present both a first-ever exhibition and a newly released book that explores mid-century America’s most popular art correspondence course. Learning from the Masters: The Famous Artist School will exhibit many never-before-seen instructional and finished works by the founding illustrators including Norman Rockwell, Al Dorne, Steven Dohanos, Al Parker, Jon Whitcomb, John Atherton, and others.

Event is free for members, or included with admission.

Reservations recommended: 413-931-2221 or rsvp@nrm.org

Pre-purchase your book for signing, or order a signed copy here.

This event is being sponsored in part by TownVibe, Faber-Castell , and Rockport Publishers/Quarto Publishing Group USA.

The exhibition was made possible by the generous donation of the Famous Artists School art and archive collection by Magdalen and Robert Livesey. Additional support was provided by Sordoni Foundation, Inc. for the processing and digitizing of this important collection.

Land Acknowledgement

It is with gratitude and humility that we acknowledge that we are learning, speaking and gathering on the ancestral homelands of the Mohican people, who are the indigenous peoples of this land on which the Norman Rockwell Museum was built. Despite tremendous hardship in being forced from here, today their community resides in Wisconsin and is known as the Stockbridge-Munsee Community. We pay honor and respect to their ancestors past and present as we commit to building a more inclusive and equitable space for all.
