Jump into the process of creating a children’s picturebook with Wendell Minor, whose beautifully illustrated story, Hi, I’m Norman, employs a first-person narrative to engage young readers with Rockwell’s life and career. The artist’s striking visual narratives have appeared on nearly 2000 book covers and in over 50 children’s books. Original artworks will be on view. The immigration experience will be explored in three compelling portrayals inspired by personal experience, bringing to life the realities of traveling to, and adapting to a new world thousands of miles away from home. Artwork included in the exhibition will feature David Macaulay’s newly released book Crossing on Time: Steam Engines, Fast Ships, and a Journey to a New World.

Land Acknowledgement

It is with gratitude and humility that we acknowledge that we are learning, speaking and gathering on the ancestral homelands of the Mohican people, who are the indigenous peoples of this land on which the Norman Rockwell Museum was built. Despite tremendous hardship in being forced from here, today their community resides in Wisconsin and is known as the Stockbridge-Munsee Community. We pay honor and respect to their ancestors past and present as we commit to building a more inclusive and equitable space for all.
