Art, Love, and Identity: Picturing Sesame Street: The Art of Illustrator Joe Mathieu

Artist Joe Mathieu will discuss his experiences as a primary illustrator of Sesame Street’s beloved characters for books, magazines, and toys. His art captured the look and feel of the famed television program, leading to a long relationship with Random House and Sesame Street Workshop that continues to this day. In addition to more than 150 books, Mathieu has created art for albums and CD covers, and images for a wide range of clients.

Artist Talk & Booksigning – Wendell Minor: Getting to Know Norman Rockwell

Jump into the process of creating a children’s picturebook with Wendell Minor, whose beautifully illustrated story, Hi, I’m Norman, employs a first-person narrative to engage young readers with Rockwell’s life and career. The artist’s striking visual narratives have appeared on nearly 2000 book covers and in over 50 children’s books. Original artworks will be on view. Come join us and explore Rockwell's Four Freedoms with Virtual Reality! In this Virtual Reality experience you will delve into Rockwell's Four Freedoms with experiences that reflect various themes of the paintings, war time culture, Rockwell's process, parodies of Rockwell's paintings and much more. Each session is approximately 10 - 15 minutes (or longer depending on the length of the wait list). It is free with Museum admission.
