Years before directing Star Wars, director George Lucas created the film that started the nostalgia craze of the 1970s. Semi-autobiographical in nature, American Graffiti is set in 1962 and features Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss, and Cindy Williams as close friends who spend a memorable final night together before leaving for college. A soundtrack featuring songs of the era transports you to back to a more innocent time.

FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES
A Rockwellian Film Series
Fridays July 8, August 12, September 2, October 7
5:30 p.m.
Similar to the way Norman Rockwell inspired and moved everyday Americans through his covers for The Saturday Evening Post, films often provide a glimpse of a romanticized America. Join us for this monthly series of classic and current films which explore themes featured in Rockwell’s paintings. Each film will be introduced by Curator of Exhibitions Jesse Kowalski to provide context, followed by an audience Q&A. Refreshments will be served.

Free with Museum admission; Film only $10, $5 for members and children age 12 and under.

Land Acknowledgement

It is with gratitude and humility that we acknowledge that we are learning, speaking and gathering on the ancestral homelands of the Mohican people, who are the indigenous peoples of this land on which the Norman Rockwell Museum was built. Despite tremendous hardship in being forced from here, today their community resides in Wisconsin and is known as the Stockbridge-Munsee Community. We pay honor and respect to their ancestors past and present as we commit to building a more inclusive and equitable space for all.
