Norman Rockwell Museum To Present Workshop on the Art of Memoir

Stockbridge, MA, November 2, 2018—Norman Rockwell Museum will present an afternoon workshop on the art of memoir on Sunday, November 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. Author and educator Jennifer Browdy, Ph.D. will share her insights on the importance and helpfulness of keeping a written account of one’s memory.

“Part of the deep work of purposeful memoir is bringing ourselves into the sunlight of forgiveness—forgiving ourselves as well as others.,” notes Browdy. “Whether or not you intend to write or publish a memoir, engaging in this kind of thoughtful interrogation of your history is important, indeed essential, for understanding the past in order to envision the kind of future you want to live into.”

Dr. Browdy is the author of a writer’s guide, The Elemental Journey of Purposeful Memoir, which won a 2017 Nautilus Silver Award; the memoir What I Forgot…and Why I Remembered, a 2018 International Book Awards finalist; and the editor of three anthologies of powerful women’s writing from around the world. She is Associate Professor of Comparative Literature at Bard College at Simon’s Rock and for seven years served as the founding director of the Berkshire Festival of Women Writers. Cost to attend the workshop is $25, $20 for Museum members. To pre-register, contact the Museum at 413.931.2221 or register@nrm.org.
