Norman Rockwell Museum Welcomes New Board of Trustees Officers and Members
Stockbridge, MA, December 12, 2014— Norman Rockwell Museum welcomed new officers and members to its Board of Trustees during the Museum’s annual meetings held on September 19 and December 5, 2014. During the September meeting, Robert T. Horvath was elected to the office of Chairman of the Board of Trustees, assuming the office previously held by Anne H. Morgan; and Alice A. Carter was elected to the office of Museum President, and Jamie Williamson was elected First Vice President. During the December meeting, new trustee members Magdalen Livesey and Carol Konner were elected to three-year terms on the Museum’s Board of Trustees. Off-going Trustees include Peter D’Ambrosio and Peter de Sève.

We are lucky to have a board that possesses a great passion for Norman Rockwell Museum and its continued growth as not only the center of the work of Norman Rockwell, but as the premiere center for American Illustrative Art.”
Also voted to the Museum’s Board of Trustees officer slate were Treasurer John V. Frank and Clerk Peter Williams. In addition, William Hargreaves, Walter and Mary Jo Engels, and George and Valerie Kennedy were re-elected to three-year terms. Long-serving trustees Thomas L. Pulling and Wendell Minor were both elected Trustees Emeriti.
New Chairman
Robert T. Horvath of St. Michaels, Maryland, and Monterey, Massachusetts, is an accomplished artist and member of the Air Force Artists, whose works have been exhibited at the Air and Space Museum and the USAF Museum in Ohio. Mr. Horvath is the Executive Director of the Talbot County Free Library, and previously served as President of both the Talbot County Visual Arts Center, and the Rotary Club of Easton, MD. He and his wife Lynne are former members of Norman Rockwell Museum’s National Council, which they joined in 2007. One of the nation’s major collectors of illustration art, Mr. Horvath currently serves as head of the Museum’s Art Acquisition Committee.
New President
Alice A. Carter of San Jose, California, is an award-winning illustrator and a professor in the Animation/Illustration Program in the School of Art and Design at San Jose State University, where she was a past chair and selected as the University’s Outstanding Professor in 1997. Her illustration clients have included Lucasfilm Ltd., Rolling Stone Magazine, The New York Times, and Applied Materials. Publications she has authored include The Art of National Geographic: One Hundred Years of Illustration; The Red Rose Girls: An Uncommon Story of Art and Love (inspiration for the 2003-04 Norman Rockwell Museum exhibition of the same title, which Carter curated); Thomas Eakins; and Cecilia Beaux: A Modern Painter in the Gilded Age. She is currently working on a biography about artist/illustrator Rockwell Kent.
New First Vice President
Jamie Williamson of Springfield, Massachusetts, was appointed by Governor Deval Patrick in February 2014 as Chair of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination Commissioner (MCAD). Ms. Williamson has served as a Commissioner of MCAD since 2010, with offices in Boston and Springfield. She has been Executive Director of the Massachusetts Fair Housing Center in Holyoke since 2003. Williamson is the previous owner of Jamie’s Appliance World in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and also served as councilor-at-large on the Pittsfield City Council.
New Trustees
Carol Konner of Water Mill, New York, and Boca Raton, Florida, is President of Konner Development Corporation, and is involved with the Bridgewater Child Care Center and East Hampton Tennis Club. She collects Norman Rockwell’s work and illustration art, and has donated numerous Norman Rockwell limited edition prints and a Howard Pyle painting to Norman Rockwell Museum. Ms. Konner has been a member of the Museum’s National Council since 2001, and a frequent lender to exhibitions.
Magdalen Livesey of Wilton, Connecticut, and Block Island, Rhode Island, is Managing Editor & Corporate Secretary of Cortina Learning International. A volunteer writing teacher, Magdalen and her husband, Robert, who is President of Cortina, are the generous donors to Norman Rockwell Museum of the Famous Artists School Archives, containing thousands of items of original artwork and other documents.
