FRIDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2014

Tales of Christmas ~ 5:00-6:30pm Gather ’round to hear classic stories of the season at the Taggart House, 18 Main Street, Stockbridge. Presented by the Stockbridge Library, Museum & Archives.  Free Admission.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2014

Holiday House Tour ~ 11:00am-4:00pm Visit some of the area’s Historic Properties. This self-guided tour is one of our most popular events. This year’s tour is one of the strongest great property tours in our history.  Click here to take a sneak peek at this years featured properties.  They include: Undermountain Mansion, Ventfort Hall Mansion , the Ripley House,  Elm Court Estate, October Mountain Farm and Cherry Cottage (View Cherry Cottage Official Trailer) Tickets are $20.00 per person (Tickets may be purchased in advance through the chamber office or on the day of at the Red Lion Inn. They are not sold at the house tour properties).
Children’s Holiday Story Time ~ 11:00-11:30am Come listen to tales of the season at the Stockbridge Library’s train station location. Free Admission.
Santa’s Cookie Workshop at Norman Rockwell Museum ~ 3:00-5:00pm, (413) 298-4100 www.nrm.org

Decorate artistic holiday cookies inspired by the spirit of the season with Santa! He’ll be on hand to help us trim our special treats and participate in the festivities, which will include holiday music and special gallery talks about Norman Rockwell’s holiday art. Click here for more information…
Caroling Luminaria Walk ~ 6:00-7:00pm Meet in front of The Red Lion Inn, Main Street with your candle or flashlight and join the festive caroling followed by a Luminaria walk to the First Congregational Church.
Holiday Concert ~ 7:30pm Celebrate the magic of the season with a joyful holiday musical program held at the First Congregational Church. Featuring the Berkshire Lyric Chorus, the Blafield Children’s Chorus and Jack Brown, Music Director. Tickets are $23.00.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2014

Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas Recreation ~ 12 Noon-2:00pm See Main Street as Norman Rockwell did when he painted the famous Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas. Main Street becomes a magical New England village with over 50 antique cars parked along the street (weather permitting) and a full range of festive activities to delight the child in everyone. Enjoy Roger the Jester and lunch at the Christmas Food Booth. Take photo ops. with Norman Rockwell in a Triple Self Portrait selfie or show your face in a Norman Rockwell painting. Hear holiday Music by Monument Mountain Regional High School and the Londontown Carolers.  Children may create holiday fun at Santa’s workshop sponsored by the Norman Rockwell Museum and have their face painted by the Happy Face Painter. Complete the day with a visit from Santa. Commemorative Buttons offering admittance to Sunday’s Main St. activities are $5.00 per person. Children under 12 free. Horse drawn wagon rides by Clay Hill Farm will also be available for an additional fee.

Norman Rockwell’s Home for the Holidays

During the holiday season, Norman Rockwell’s anxiously awaited illustrations brought good cheer to millions of Americans who encountered his images on the covers and pages of their favorite magazines, and on holiday cards that brought the spirit of the holidays home. His memorable, enduring images, which reflected the best in us, are on view in this special holiday installation of original artworks and objects. Original drawings and paintings, as well as costumes and props featured in his artwork, will be on view.

Distinguished Illustrator Series
Mort Künstler: The Art of Adventure
November 8, 2014 through March 8, 2015

Known today for his meticulously researched historical paintings, Mort Künstler is also a prolific illustrator who has worked on a broad spectrum of assignments for more than sixty years―from paperback book jackets and men’s adventure magazine illustrations to movie posters, model kit boxes, and advertisements for prominent corporations. His dramatic, beautifully-crafted images, conceived in every possible genre throughout his outstanding career, will be the focus of this exhibition, which draws from the artist’s vast and highly-regarded body of work. The artist’s romance, adventure, and sporting illustrations for True, Argosy, The Saturday Evening Post, Sports Afield, Outdoor Life, American Weekly, Men’s Story among others, and his contemporary historical paintings that capture the heroes and battles of the American Civil War, will be on view.
