STOCKBRIDGE, MA – Norman Rockwell Museum is delighted to announce this year’s participants in the Bonnie and Terry Burman Internship Program. Board of Trustees member Terry Burman and his wife Bonnie are sponsoring the academic growth of students college students and recent graduates through a meaningful paid internship in the competitive museum field. The 6 week? 8 week? 2 month? internship at Norman Rockwell Museum provides hands on training and real-world practice across many disciplines in the museum field.

“It is important to support future generations of cultural leaders with a strong foundation more than ever” noted the Burmans “We are pleased to support the opportunity for students to gain valuable experience working in the arts through this Internship Program at Norman Rockwell Museum”

The inaugural class of Interns will be working with several departments: Curatorial/Collections, Marketing/Communications, and Digital Engagement. The Museum reviewed the credentials of a wide variety of extremely qualified candidates from as far as the Midwest and as close as Berkshire County. Students in this paid internship program are working remotely and on-site two to four days per week over the summer. They will be researching the collection, cataloguing prints and ephemera, creating digital content, helping to run on-site and virtual programs behind the scenes, drafting press releases, and creating social media campaigns.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to take part in the Internship program this summer,” says 2021 intern Tucker Broadbooks from the Cooperstown Museum Studies Graduate Program who will be working with the communications team, “This is a great opportunity for me to learn from museum professionals. It extends my studies and puts me in contact with a network of people in Berkshire cultural organizations.”

“This summer there are so many exciting events and programs, so I’ve been keeping an open mind about what my role will be in bringing them to life. I do expect to learn how to best apply the skills I’ve learned over the years in a museum setting, and I’m looking forward to getting to know my seniors at NRM as well as the professional artists who we will be speaking with over the summer!” says MCLA Senior Drew Thomas.
