Remembering Nancy Goessel
Norman Rockwell Museum is saddened by the news of the recent passing of Nancy Goessel, wife of Bill Goessel, who served on our Board from 1988-1995.
Nancy was a wonderful friend of Norman Rockwell Museum. She stood solidly by Bill as he helped to guide, encourage, and financially support the capital campaign that culminated in the reality of the Museum’s new building on the Linwood Estate. Nancy and Bill were here for the Museum every step of the way and helped take us into the national spotlight. As reported in The Berkshire Eagle, this caring and generous couple worked selflessly to better the Berkshire community, where he worked at Beloit Corporation and they raised their family. Norman Rockwell Museum Director/CEO, Laurie Norton Moffatt remembers that Nancy “carried herself with grace and generosity. We’re all so sad.”
In the 1980s, following a 32-year career at the Beloit Corporation, Bill joined Harnischfeger Industries, headquartered in Beloit, Wisconsin. Bill was selected, and served, as that company’s President where he worked until his retirement in 1992. Upon leaving Wisconsin, Bill and Nancy moved to Naples, Florida but also retained a residence in the Berkshires where they enjoyed spending summers and holidays.
We send our sincere condolences to the Goessels many friends and family.
