Norman Rockwell Museum Presents Family Day To Celebrate 100th Anniversary of Norman Rockwell’s First Post Cover
Highlights Include Opening of “Build a Better Baby Carriage,” The Museum’s New Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition
Stockbridge, MA, May 5, 2016—In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Norman Rockwell’s first Saturday Evening Post cover, Norman Rockwell Museum will present “Rockwell and The Post,” a family day event on Saturday, May 14, from 1 to 4 p.m. View the original painting, Boy with Baby Carriage, which appeared on Rockwell’s first cover for the Post on May 20, 1916, and view our entire collection of all 323 original cover tear sheets created by the artist over the next 47 years.
Opening that day, Build a Better Baby Carriage is the Museum’s new outdoor sculpture show, featuring three-dimensional artworks inspired by the subject of Rockwell’s first Post cover. At 1 p.m. meet the contemporary sculptors whose works will be displayed on the Museum’s bucolic 36-acre campus, overlooking the Housatonic River. Featured artists in the juried show include: Erika Crofut, Mike Field, Thomas Fiorini, Stephan Harris, Elizabeth Koscher, Thomas Mesquita, Dee Moretto, Nicole Peskin, and Angelo J. Sinisi. Commendations will be awarded for Best in Show, Most Inventive, Most Artistic, and People’s Choice (Children and Adults). Build a Better Baby Carriage will be on view through October 30, 2016.
From 2 to 4 p.m., enjoy art making inside the galleries with illustrator/video game designer, Pat O’Donnell. Storytelling, talks and refreshments will also be offered throughout the day.

Norman Rockwell Museum is currently running a social media sweepstakes in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of Norman Rockwell’s Boy with Baby Carriage painting. The Museum invites its social media fans to share photos showing their young ones (or pets) in carriages. Posts should be tagged #100YearOldBaby and linked to the Museum’s Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram pages by June 6, 2016. The entries will be aggregated to Norman Rockwell Museum’s website and on June 6, the Museum will randomly choose one of the entries for the grand prize that will include: a $100 Amazon gift card, family membership to the Museum, and print of Boy with Baby Carriage.
