Start the week off right with “Sketchology,” our social art making event, returning to Norman Rockwell Museum this Monday, August 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Join our Chief Curator, Stephanie Plunkett for an evening of art making and socializing, that will spark both creativity and conversation.

Ms. Plunkett will be offering exercises that “encourage experimentation with a wide variety of media and inspire creative observation and visual thinking.”
These lively, interactive activities will take place in Rockwell’s Post cover gallery, and feature a range of “Drawing Calisthenics” including:

– One Day, One Theme will invite participants to extract thematic elements from the works on view to create a unique composition of their own.
– Image Mining will use selected images as a jumping-off point for an imaginative composition.
– Construct/Deconstruct will invite artists to break-down and build-up images through color, pattern, and design.

A variety of media and techniques will be explored, including color and found object collage, etrecissement (reductive drawing with eraser), and automatic and interactive drawing, among others.
